MirrorLink does not work while the vehicle is driving

Do you have such a picture on the display of your car, if you own a Škoda, VW or Seat car? Even if you have all the applications properly certified in the MirrorLink list of certified applications? The checked car icon next to the application means that MirrorLink will not work for you while driving. Even if the car is stationary when everything is OK, as soon as you reach a speed of about 5 km / h, the image from the car's display disappears and a message appears meaning this application is not allowed while driving or for this country. Why is this so and what about it? The reason for this situation is Samsung's business policy. Samsung officially discontinued MirrorLink support on June 1, 2020 and shut down all of its authorization servers on June 17, 2020. From now on, it is no longer possible to connect new Samsung phones to the car through MirrorLink, and older ones get into trouble with ongoing updates.It is necessary to distinguish between two types of certificates for MirrorLink applications. One is the one that is for your own applications, such as RockScout, LG MirrorDrive, Audioteka, Skoda one app, etc. These certificates are provided by the Car Connectivity Consortium and all work normally. You can also see them on your phone and you can update the certificates regularly.The second type of certificate is for the Samsung MirrorLink 1.1 system application. You can find it only in system applications and you do not see its certificate. However, it is activated via the Samsung certification server and the one, as we said above, has been switched off since June 17, 2020. Until then, if someone did not have a valid certificate in the phone (which will be created when the car and phone are connected for the first time and online certification on the Samsung server at the same time), or for some reason they lost it (for example so it will manifest itself in two possible ways. For phones with Android 8 and lower, MirrorLink does not work while driving, for phones with Android 9 and 10, which still have a mirrorlink, it either does not connect to the car at all or MirrorLink does not work while driving.Unfortunately, it seems that there are several possible reasons when the Samsung MirrorLink system application loses a valid certificate. Apparently, even without deleting data and memory, resetting or updating your phone, Samsung can turn off the certificate on your phone via third-party applications. This means that the solution below awaits the vast majority of Samsung MirrorLink users in the near future.If you own a VW group car, the solution is quite simple, although not completely free. Just unlock the MirrorLink function in the car software while driving (do not confuse this function with VIM - unblock Video in Motion for media, which is used to unlock the image from the TV tuner, DVD player, USB flash or SD card!). The procedure is very similar, but they are two different things.Most of you probably won't be able to do it alone if you don't own an OBDeleven facility, where it's very simple and a matter of about 3 minutes of work and a price of about 15 Euros. However, they will probably only do this to you in an authorized service if you have a very good relationship with the manager. On the other hand, there is a large number of smaller services, where they will certainly be happy to do it practically while you wait. The complexity and thus the cost of the procedure may vary in different services and depending on which MIB unit you own in your vehicle and from which manufacturer.
